A good film can take the audience to any time or place within its universe, and fortunately, some of the places used to depict our favourite stories may be visited and experienced in person.
Feel the thrilling rush of following in the footsteps of a cherished fictional hero or standing in the shadow of a structure that is as much a part of childhood as the family home. Every blockbuster movie needs to shoot someplace, and while some are already gone, here are ten that not only exist but invite fans to cast themselves in a real-world adventure.
The little Adriatic island of Vis is probably one of the most beautiful islands in the world with its clean turquoise sea, gorgeous beaches, and 17th-century architecture, served as a Greek resort for the filming of Mamma Mia 2, the sequel to the famous Mamma Mia.
It takes 20 minutes to walk around the harbour, which was built by the Venetians in the 17th century and is still off the tourist trail. The majority of the filming took place in Komiza, a Mamma Mia-style town on the west coast of the island. Some sequences were shot on Stiniya's most well-known beaches in the south. The "beautiful Greek island of Kalokairi" from the original Mamma Mia, with its majestic cliffs and picture-perfect white-sand beaches, is the small Greek island of Skopelos.
Croatia is one of Europe's most beautiful countries. The scenery is breathtaking, and visiting Croatia's countless islands might take a lifetime. Croatia boasts a rich history, delectable cuisine and economical accommodations. It also contains some of Europe's top wines and truffles. Mediterranean restaurants and nightclubs are well known around the world. The beaches are beautiful, and the water is very clear!
There are hundreds of things to see and do in Dubrovnik, including guided tours of the ancient town, kayaking, and, of course, the Dubrovnik Game of Thrones Tour, which was established just for lovers of the TV series. You'll be following in the footsteps of your favourite "Game of Thrones" characters.
We recommend staying in Camping Solitudo Sunny . The campsite is located on the peaceful green peninsula of Babin Kuk, only a 10-minute ride from Dubrovnik's historic centre (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) and a 5-minute walk from a great beach. You'll find your ideal accommodation in the camp, whether it's on a big plot or in a camper home, whether you're travelling as a couple, with friends, or with family.
Whether you like the film or not, there's no doubt that the location for The Sound of Music was breathtaking. Salzburg, Austria, not only served as a filming site for the film but also served as the inspiration for the Von Trapp family's narrative. With towering mountains and a castle to marvel at, there are several well-known vistas and sites across the city, as well as organised excursions to take you to each one.
We recommend staying in Camping Nord-Sam. The ideal location for a visit to the City of Salzburg (3 km), provides numerous cultural events but is also a great place to relax, regenerate, or for sporting activities, such as swimming, hiking, and bike riding.
Under the Tuscan Sun (2003), The English Patient (1996),... There are a plethora of fantastic films set in Italy. Call Me By Your Name (2017), however, has to be one of the best films in recent years. The film focuses on a precocious 17-year-old named Elio and his relationship with a 24-year-old graduate student who joins his academic family at their Italian villa for the summer. The tourist town of Sirmione on Lake Garda features one special scene, particularly the ruins and Jamaica Beach.
We recommend staying in Camping Le Palme. This campsite is located right on Lake Garda's beaches, close to Lazise and Peschiera del Garda, in one of the most picturesque corners of the Riviera degli Olivi (Olive Tree Riviera), where nature still plays a major role.
The peace and beauty of these locations make Le Palme Camping the ideal destination to spend your vacation. The campground is a few kilometres from Gardaland, Movieland, Caneva, the Thermal Park Villa Dei Cedri, and other nearby parks.
Life is lovely in this manner... The picturesque village of Arezzo was the setting for Roberto Benigni's "La Vita è Bella." The song's tune is well-known around the world and will stay with you during your tour.
The film's most iconic location is undoubted "Piazza Grande," but many other locations in Arrezzo were also chosen for the film. To see where the two lovers met, go to the "Palazzo della Provincia," "Caffé dei Costanti," "Teatro Petrarca," or "Badia delle Sante Flora e Lucilla."
We recommend staying in Camping Le Fontanelle. A romantic campsite par excellence, well regarded for its cleanliness and tranquillity for a pleasant stay amid the greenery of the Trebbia Valley's loveliest and most adored countryside.
Prague, the Czech Republic's capital, is well-known for filming several films, including "James Bond: Casino Royale," "Amadeus," "Les Misérables," "Oliver Twist," "Chronicles of Narnia," and, of course, "Mission: Impossible" starring Tom Cruise.
Prague is one of Europe's most romantic cities. Don't miss out on a great city trip to Prague; visit the castle, take a cruise, a Prague Segway Grand City Tour, or a Medieval Dinner with unlimited beverages.
We recommend staying in Caravan Camping. 4-stars campsite in Prague can be found on one of the Prague islands as a little as 1 km from the city centre. Praguecamp offers a wide range of accomModation, from spacious parking for your motorhome or caravan with plenty of privacy, all the way to a tent site.
Who would have guessed that the planet Naboo was so close to us? The second episode of the Star Wars prequel trilogy was shot in a variety of locales throughout the world, but the ones that drew our eye were in Italy. To be more specific, the sets were shot on Lake Como and Reggia di Caserta. The magnificent Villa del Balbianello was erected on the tip of the Dosso d'Avedo peninsula, overlooking Lake Como. Because of the Star Wars film, it is now a popular wedding destination. Because of the breathtaking surrounding beauty of the home and lake, the property was chosen as the venue for Anakin and Padmé's wedding. The next filming location was the Royal Palace of Caserta in Caserta. This Caserta primary attraction is also a UNESCO World Heritage site in Italy, and it was utilised in interior sequences for the Royal Palace of Planet Naboo in Episodes I and II.
We recommend staying in Camping Spiaggia. This small campsite is located directly on the eastern shore of Lake Como, lost in the fascinating scenery of the mountains.
Strange but true: Fort Ricasoli in Kalkara, Malta served as ancient Rome in Ridley Scott's epic picture Gladiator. Rather than filming in Rome, a replica of the Colosseum was erected to about one-third scale, and outdoor market scenes were built surrounding the location to give it the correct appearance and feel.
In The Danish Girl, the sequences shot in Copenhagen harborside Nyhavn district seem like paintings. It's doubtful you'd visit Copenhagen without seeing the city's most iconic landmark, but just in case... You must be aware that you must not miss it. The patchwork houses may be a hive of activity with tourists scurrying around the streets, but it's well worth the effort.
We recommend staying in Tangloppen Camping. Tangloppen Camping is located on a peninsula in the Kge Bugt Strandpark, part of the Ishj Marina, and is only 500 metres from a spectacular 7-kilometre-long sandy beach.
The city centre of Copenhagen is only 18 kilometres away, and there are excellent transportation options, including an S-train that runs every 10 minutes from Ishj railway station.
Aside from the fact that the original Romeo and Juliet play did not include a balcony and that this structure was built in the 1930s, this is Juliet Capulet's residence in Verona! And the courtyard from the charmingly soppy romcom Letters to Juliet, about Juliet's secretaries who reply to love letters left for Juliet.
We recommend staying in Camping Village Du Parc. The campsite on Lake Garda's Veneto (eastern) coast, near the village of Lazise, is a long-established family-run resort. For over fifty years, it has welcomed visitors and travellers from all over Europe for delightful holidays spent in the natural surroundings of the lake.
