All over Europe you will find trendy and sporty camps that are often part of existing campsites. We have made a list of 15 spots and done the research, so you immediately know which surf camp organiser is present at which campsite.
With a fairly reasonable swell, and wave height of between 100cm - 150cm, Biscarrosse is the ultimate surfing destination. The village has several kilometres of sandy beaches all facing west to the Atlantic Ocean. Top beaches are the well-known Central Beach, South Beach with its sandbank offering powerful waves at high tide, North Beach and Le Vivier beach which is located at the far northern end of Biscarrosse beach. This international surf-hotspot hosts major international surfing events each year.
Camping Campéole Le Vivier is situated just behind the dunes of Le Vivier beach. The dog-friendly campsite offers a great range of sports facilities (pool, tennis, volleyball). Accommodations include mobile homes, pitches and glamping safari-tents and no less than 7 surf camps including Wave, Ripstar, EnterTheWave and Pure.
Labelled one of the best places along France’s south-west coast to learn to surf, Hendaye is a super-fun spot with a friendly atmosphere lots to be seen and explored beyond the surfing. Expert surfers head to Vanthrax, just north of Hendaye, while beginners will flock to Hendaye's long beach (3.5km), where the waves are seldomly too big and the swell is weak. Surfing done and ready for diner? Visit the Boulevard de la Mer, along which excellent restaurants such as Le Sol Sol and Jaizkibel serve great tapas and pintxos.
Camping Abaya - Vacances André Trigano is located in Aguerria part of town, a short stroll (or shuttle bus) to the beach and the Baie de Loya. The campsite boasts pretty mobile homes, which were installed in 2024, camping pitches, a bar with restaurant and seasonal entertainment. Surf camps on this campsite include those of Aparra and the Spot.
Surfers visit Moliets in the Landes for its great combo of beaches, dunes, pine forests and big and small waves. A steady and reliable northwest wind keeps surfers happy. Done with surfing, put on your hiking shoes or try that MTB bike on one of the many dirt tracks in the backcountry. Golf enthousiasts will love the 18-hole Golf de Moliets, a Robert Trent Jones designed course which has 4 holes (13-16) right on the beach.
Camping Le Saint Martin is an exceptional 18-hectare campsite in the heart of the Landes forest with a friendly, family atmosphere. From your mobile home, pitch or safari-tent you'll enjoy direct access to the immense sandy beach, the remarkable heritage site of the Courant d'Huchet nature reserve and its greenways and cycle paths.
Camping Les Cigales is a 3-star on the same road as Campsite Le Saint Martin. The campsite is a family-run business (founded in 1955) and has a focus on focus on friendliness and simplicity, while respecting the spirit of the wild nature of the Landes coast, by landscaping the various pitches amidst maritime pines.

With a light breeze and a warm scent of pine trees, the Bias coastline offers a great surfing experience. The wild coast between Mimizan and Bias, overlooking the Contis lighthouse, invites you to surf the fabulous Landes sandbanks. Visit the charming surfing villages of Mimizan-Plage and Contis-Plage, with cosy bars and trendy restaurants, and enjoy a week or more of quality time with friends and/or family.
The Municipal campsite Le Tatiou is located in the heart of the Landes forest and close to large stretches of fine sand along the wild Atlantic coast. The campsite covers 10 hectares and offers a wide range of accommodation, including glamping tents, mobile homes and lodges. The campsite is a 10-minute drive from Mimizan and Espécier beach. Hire a bike and enjoy the beautiful cycle paths in the heart of the maritime pine forest. Back at the campsite, relax in a hammock while enjoying a cool drink and dance under the stars to live music after dinner.

Vieux Boucau is an ideal destination is for surfers of all levels. The wave length in Vieux Boucau is typical for this region: 50 to 150 metres. But on some days with ideal conditions, the waves can be even longer, more so if the swell comes from the northwest, west or southwest. So in terms of wind direction, surfing in Vieux Boucau is best when south-easterly and easterly winds are blowing. Best spots for surfing: directly north of the estuary you'll find Plage Central, nearer to the campsites is Plage Des Sablères and south of the estuary you'll find Plage de Soustons where the waves are a bit harder to predict because the water coming from the river affects the sandbars. Camping Les Sablères is a 3-star campsite right by the beach (150m). Slow done the pace, play a game of pétanque or pingpong and enjoy the gentle pace of life at Vieux Boucau. Surf camps on this campsite include those of Brunotti and Longwave .
Ruilobuca will let you discover the magic of Cantabria. It is only a few kilometers away from Gaudi-town Comillas, widely recognized as one of the nicest towns in Spain. Other nearby sites/activities include the Altamira caves (15min by car), and Paintball Cantabria which provides for a good pastime after a day on the beach. Surfers will like Playa De Luana, a pristine and tranquil beach nestled in the picturesque region of Alfoz de Lloredo. For planning purposes: Playa De Luana has few amenities, so plan ahead, there are no lifeguards on duty, there's no bathroom access and dogs are not allowed. In return you get a serene spot for surfing, sunbathing, picnicking and enjoying great views of the beautiful Cantabrian Sea. Finish the day in Restaurante Venta de Tramalón serving typical local dishes including Chuleta de Cerdo and Arroz a la Cubana.
Camping El Helguero Ruiloba is a family campsite surrounded by forest and beautiful beaches. Facilities include an outdoor and indoor swimming pool, a play area, free Wifi and a restaurant and cafeteria. Surf camps on this campsite include those of Dreamsee .
Just under two hours' drive from Bilbao, which means that the iconic Guggenheim Museum is also just 2 hours, you'll find Playa de Oyambre . Oyambre is a tiny coastal town and more important a beautiful surf spot. In the green and hilly surroundings (part of the protected Oyambre Natural Park) you'll find the villages of Comillas and San Vincente to enjoy some real Cantabrian culture. The 1km long Playa de Oyambre is northeast facing and bordered by hills on both sides and thus rather sheltered. The best wind condition is southwest wind and the best time to go surfing is at mid- to high tide.
Camping Rodero is located just a few metres from the beach. From here you can see from the beach to the wonderful views of the Picos de Europa. Taking a day off from surfing? Then you may want to visit Altamira, the Cueva del Soplao or the village of Rábago. A few metres from the campsite is the Oyambre golf course, a course that can boast of being the oldest in the Iberian Peninsula and has 9 holes with a par 62. The camping offers pitches, cabanas and bungalows and is host to surf camps including those of Ripstar , Amigos Surfcamp , Flowtrack , Star Surf and Enter The Wave.
Playa de Vidiago is suitable for surfers of all levels. On one side you look out over the Cantabrian Mountains and the hills of Ensenada de Novales and on the other over an idyllic surf bay. The fine white and sandy beach, also known as Novales or Bretones, is about 450m long and divided almost in two by a rocky out crop. Don't forget to take a selfie with Idolo de Peña Tupre, a historic monolith. There are left and right waves spread all over the beach, and it has very good conditions for beginners and advanced surfers. In the winter and autumn the waves are of better quality, depending on the sandbanks, you can find very fun and manoeuvrable waves.
Camping La Paz is right on Vidiago beach, often considered one of the most beautiful beaches in the Cantabrian Sea. From your pitch or (Kampaoh) glamping tent you enjoy breathtaking views over the Cantabrian Sea. Their bar-restaurant has a sunny terrace and serves local dishes, tapas and international fare. The camping is host to surf camps including those Enter The Wave.
The beach of Somo (just across Bahia de Santander) is a perfect surf spot to learn to surf or to perfect your pro-skills since you will always find waves (normal wave length: 50-150m) suiting your level of surfing. With over 8 kms of good beach breakers it gets a great portion of swells coming from all directions. All year around the beach has good so-called lefts and rights and quite often some tubular sessions. The old town of Santander is definitely worth a visit and if you're into football try to attend a home game of Racing Santander, the cities' professional football club. Santander is quite often included in one of the Vuelta -cycling race Tour of Spain- stages, so check out its dates if you're into cycling. The ferry between Somo and Santander runs several times a day.
Camping Latas - Somo Bungalow Resort is a premium campsite situated in the middle of nature, right next to the Cantabrian village of Somo. The campsite is located in front of the bay of Santander and only 300m from the beach of Somo-Loredo. The camping rents pitches for your camper, caravan or tent, mobile homes and glamping cabins. Zarautz is a top surf spot in the Basque region of Spain. The small city welcomes prestigious yearly surf events, including the Zarautz Pro, which is part of the World Surf League. Picture green hills, a golden beach and a consistent beach break. That's Zarautz! Zarautz Hondartza is both a surfers' beach and a family beach and has a relaxed atmosphere. If you're a beginner you'll find smaller waves to surf in summer, while pro's find their preferred swells more in autumn and winter. Watch out for some
southeast offshore winds to find the best practise-conditions. Ready for the day and hitting the town? Taberna Euskalduna is a cool tapas bar in the old town or go classic and book a table at Restaurante Telesforo.
Camping Talaimendi has a magnificent setting in the hills just behind the beach overlooking the 9-hole Real Golf Club de Zarautz. The campsite rents large pitches and has a on-site restaurant and (small) supermarket.

Alentejo is a great place to surf, both for beginners and more advanced surfers. A mild climate, pristine beaches, great food and friendly locals make this most one of the best surf-holiday-sports in Europe. The scenic Pessegueiro Island Beach is a surf spot that stands out. It has a bit of a wild feel to it gives the sand dunes and scrubland surrounding the beach, reinforced by the large, abandoned 16th fortress that overlooks the beach. The beach is known for its consistent surf and high-quality waves, which are mellow (good for beginners) in summer and more challenging (bigger) in spring and autumn.
Eco-friendly Parque de Campismo da Ilha do Pessegueiro rents cabins and apartments and has a great swimming pool. The center of Porto Covo is a 9-minute ride (by car) and has a great Mirador Miradouro de Porto Covo as well as numerous bars and cafes to unwind.

Talamone Bay is very well known for its good conditions for surfing, windsurfing and kitesurfing. The winds on Spiaggia dell'Osa and Spiaggia della Fertilia blow from different directions, from north-west to south-east. Beginning surfers will like the clear shallow waters. When skipping surfing for a day you may want to visit the old town of Orbetello which is located on a peninsula leading to the Monte Argentario promontory. Stop at Pizzeria Trattoria La Bersagliera for a very good calzone pizza.
Gitav Talamone Camping Village is located in the heart of the Maremma Natural Park, one of the most beautiful and unspoilt areas in Tuscany. Perched on a hill, within a vast park of olive trees and Mediterranean maquis you'll find modern mobile homes and Coco Sweet glamping tents and large pitches for your camper, caravan or tent. Enjoy the gipsy-bohemian feel of the village, make sure to dip in the pool and teste their spicy Insalata di mare at the on-site restaurant.

Between the big cities of The Hague and Rotterdam lies the Westland. And there, between the coastal towns of ‘s-Gravenzande and Hoek van Holland, you'll find the beautiful and peaceful Vlugtenburg beach . A truly magical place where many Dutch surfers mastered their first waves and which was voted the cleanest beach in the Netherlands in 2024. With its safe sandy bottom, Vlugtenburg is the ideal place to catch your first waves, but also challenging enough for the advanced surfer.
Camping Strandpark Vlugtenburg is located just behind the dunes 1km west from the village of 's-Gravenzande and just north of Hoek van Holland. The campsite offers a range of accommodations including bohemian roulottes, bungalows, safari glamping tents and pitches. Hungry? On-site Eetcafé Zout serves a great burger, while nearby beach club Paviljoen Zomertijd Strand is a good bet for a catch-of-the-day right from the Scheveningen fishing harbour.
Roompot Vakantiepark Kijkduin is located in Kijkduin (just north of 's-Gravenzande) and has immediate access to the Zandmotor, a great lagune to start (kite)surfing.
