Diving Zeeland

Zeeland has more than 100 dive sites and is loved by people all over the world. You will be amazed by the varied flora and fauna. You can even wreck dive! Especially the Grevelingenmeer and the Oosterschelde are known for their dive sites, but you can also dive in the beautiful Veerse Meer!

With more than 100 dive sites, it is difficult to choose the right one. That is why we have listed the 25 best dive sites especially for you.

Diving in the Grevelingenmeer

De Kabbelaar, in Scharendijke , is a busy place to dive in the Grevelingenmeer near the harbor of Scharendijke. You'll notice that this dive site is popular because of the various facilities that can be found there, such as a restaurant, a dive center, and many parking options. Underwater you will find a few wreckages, including the diving wreck Le Serpent. This wreck is located at a depth of 30 meters in the water and can only be achieved by experienced divers with certain certification objectives.

Near De Kabbelaar lies Mini-camping Bosveen . You can rent on a pitch or rent a cottage/lodge.

Dreischor Gemaal

Dreischor Gemaal, on Gemeente Noord-Beveland , is a special diving location because of the light along the overgrown pillars of the pumping station. This gives a bit of a Mediterranean feel. At this dive site, the bottom is overgrown with sponges, algae and anemones. Marvel at the crabs, mussels, shrimp and snails.

Within 15 minutes you are at Summio Parc Aquadelta . Here you can rent a villa or apartment, so you always have enough space for your diving equipment.

Dreischor Frans Kokrif

At Dreischor Frans Kokrif you will find old dyke remains and beautifully overgrown reef balls. Through the holes you can see the inhabitants, which are mainly lobsters, crabs and pipefishes. This dive site is named after Frans Kok, the first dive entrepreneur in Zeeland . Also useful to know is that there is a filling station where you can fill 24 hours a day, so your tank will always be full enough for diving.

Camping 't Hoge Zand is only 10 minutes by car from Dreischor Frans Kokrif. The campsite is ideally located near the Grevelingenmeer where, in addition to diving, you can also swim, row and surf.

Den Osse Nieuwe Kerkweg

Are you looking for one of the most beautiful dive sites in the Grevelingenmeer ? Then you have to go to Den Osse Nieuwe Kerkweg. Here you will find a lot of biodiversity in the overgrown reef balls. Sepiolas, Zeedahlias, and licks can be admired here. Den Osse Nieuwe Kerkweg is a nice night location because you will see a lot of eels and lobsters.

You can sleep at Camping Den Osse . This campsite is located near the Grevelingenmeer and the North Sea beach. Have fun in the heated outdoor swimming pool, on the tennis court, in the playgrounds or visit the marina nearby.

Diving in the Veerse Meer

Veerse Gatdam

Dive site Veerse Gatdam, located on the Veerse Meer, is unique because there is hardly any current and you do not have to walk on a dike. You can go straight into the water from the parking lot! This dive site is popular because it is an excellent practice location. There is a diving platform on the bottom for training purposes. Here you will find a lot of eel, flatfish and mussels!

Near the Veerse Dam lies Camping Landwinkel Schorre , in Vrouwenpolder . This small campsite has 25 spacious pitches and a number of holiday homes. The campsite is distinguished by its country shop where delicacies from its own orchard are sold.

Dive site Oranjeplaat is ideal for beginners. The chain and the navigation buoy are beautifully covered with mussels. If you continue to the sandy bottom while diving, you will encounter red seaweed and oyster beds. You will also find many crabs, shrimps and pipefishes here.

You can stay at the farmer's house near Oranjeplaat, namely at Mini-Camping Oranjepolder . At this farm campsite you sleep in one of the luxury tents and you can enjoy animals above water every day, such as goats, rabbits, chicken, lambs and pigs.

Wolphaartsdijk

Wolphaartsdijk is considered the most beautiful dive site on the Veerse Meer. The bottom is a varied habitat for pipefish, sea turtles, crabs and lobsters. Here you usually have excellent visibility, so don't forget to bring your camera! Make sure you pay attention in the summer season, because there are many boats on the Veerse Meer.

Within 20 minutes you will be at Vakantiepark Hof van Zeeland in Heinkenszand . You will not get bored at the campsite. Take a dip in the pool or rent a bike and explore the area!

Polredijk

Diving at Polredijk means diving between colorfully overgrown mussel strands. You can dive to a depth of 20 meters, but the best underwater life is in the first 7 meters. You can spot shrimps, flatfish, eels and crabs here. There is a parking lot nearby and a staircase that makes it easy to get to the water.

Camping Haflingerhof De Heksenketel is only 800 meters from the Polredijk dive site. This mini campsite is for young and old! You will never get bored with the Veerse Bos nature reserve so close by. And of course you will be back in the water at Polredijk for diving in no time!

Diving in the Oosterschelde

Wemeldinge-Oost

Wemeldinge-Oost is a Zeeland dive site around a headland. This dive site is no less than 25 meters deep and intended for experienced divers. There is a somewhat stronger current and you have to be careful not to swim outside the pier. All your hard work will certainly be rewarded; the Oosterschelde is known for its flora and fauna!

Near this dive site is Camping Linda . Here, peace, space and conviviality are of paramount importance. You can park here with your own camper, caravan or tent or you can rent a hiker's cabin, cottage or mobile home!

With its many animal species, this is a popular place for diving. Here you can find seahorses, cuttlefish, sea bass, lobsters, crabs, butterfish and plaice. This location is also popular among fishermen, so pay attention when you go diving! The Zeeland Bridge, previously called the Oosterschelde Bridge, is an official national monument.

Within fifteen minutes from the Zeeland Bridge you are at Minicamping d'Oute Poppe . At this campsite, children can help the farmer collect eggs and feed the chickens and sheep. For a nice walk from the campsite you have to go to National Park Oosterschelde , which is 500 meters away.

De Val

Dive site De Val is located near the Zeeland Bridge. This dive site is less known and is therefore less crowded. You don't have to dive deep before you see the beautiful creatures that the Oosterschelde has to offer. You will meet cuttlefish, lumpfish, crustaceans, butter fish and crabs here.

The eponymous Camping de Val is a cozy and small farm campsite, a stone's throw from the dive site. Here you can use one of the very spacious camping pitches. If you don't feel like diving, Zierikzee is practically around the corner.

Sint Annaland

Sint Annaland is the only dive site on the north side of the Zeeland island of Tholen and is located right next to the harbor of Sint Annaland. This dive site has great contrasts; you have bare sandy plains, but also a thick soil with many animals. Greet the sea squirts, sponges and sea dahlias. Sint Annaland is located in Krabbenkreek, a narrow shallow channel in the Oosterschelde. Because the Krabbenkreek is shallow, you also notice less difference between ebb and flow. You have to pay attention, because there is a light current.

15 minutes by car from the dive site is Oosterschelde Camping Stavenisse , a cozy family campsite with comfortable hikers' cabins, chalets and camping pitches. Unwind at one of the swimming pools or enjoy a bite to eat in the restaurant.

Plompe Toren

What makes Plompe Toren dive site unique is that you can find the remains of the village of Koudekerke that was flooded in 1581. The dive site is actually named after the only remnant of the village, namely the tower. You see a lot of life at this dive site. There is an alternating bottom of sand and oysters.

Vakantiepark Schouwen in Renesse is 15 minutes by car from Plompe Toren. The campsite has many different activities, for example you can do an escape room!

Goese Sas

Dive site Goese Sas is also called Sas van Goes and is characterized by Readers Digest as one of the most beautiful dive sites in the world. The Goese Sas is 30 meters deep, yet you can already see a lot of the flora and fauna at only 10 meters deep! The bottom itself is dense, resulting in a wide variety of marine life. While diving you can see different fish, crabs and sea horses. The Goese Sas is best known for its cuttlefish, sepiola and squid.

Near Het Goese Sas lies Water Resort Oosterschelde; a modest resort where peace and space are central. Each of the houses has a view of beautiful nature.

De Stelhoeve

The Stelhoeve is located near Wemeldinge , towards the Oosterschelde . The most characteristic of this dive site is the wreck Galjoen Zonder Poen. Wreck diving is generally a bit more difficult than regular diving, so you need to be extra careful. Galjoen Zonder Poen is covered with the most beautiful flora and fauna.

Vakantiepark de Stelhoeve is located on the other side of the dike of De Stelhoeve. Ideal! The holiday park has set up 'De Duikschuur'. Here you can take a shower after diving and rinse your diving equipment. At 50 meters you will find a filling station and there is a dive shop in the village.

Katshaven-Noord

This dive site reminds you of a tropical reef. Katshaven-Noord is a varied dive site with a lot of biodiversity. You will come across sand, stones and occasionally clay pits here. While diving in this 25 meter deep water you will encounter many animals, both between blocks and on the sand. Swim with flatfish, crabs, lobsters, pipefishes and lobsters.

Within 10 minutes you will be at Vakantiepark de Stelhoeve. Here you can rest from diving in one of the luxurious accommodations. Stay the night in a lodge, villa, harbor house, dike suite or real houseboat.

There are few dive sites in Zeeland where you encounter so much North Sea life, because the dive site is so close to the storm surge barrier. At Burghsluis Oostbout there is a current, but this also ensures that you have a greater chance of spotting sepiolas, horned blime fish, silt anemones and crumbling stars.

Camping Duinrand in Burgh-Haamstede is only 8 minutes by car from the dive site Burghsluis Oostbout. Here you can rent a mobile home, chalet or holiday bungalow. From the campsite you can easily reach the forest and dune area, if you don't feel like diving.

Omroep Zeeland 

Gorishoek De Punt

Gorishoek de Punt is one of the few places in Zeeland where you can still see life very deeply. Dive to a depth of 150 feet and admire the brick anemones. Diving this deep requires experience. Gorishoek de Punt is also called De Zeester, this is due to the nearby restaurant. Handy if you are hungry after diving!

At Vakantiepark de Zeeuwse Parel in Scherpenisse you relax can after diving. You can use different types of accommodations here; chalet, bungalow or your own caravan.

Schelphoek

At dive site Schelphoek on the Oosterschelde you have a lot of rocky area where you can also find crumbling stars, sea carnation and nudibranchs. In the summer it is very nice to dive here, because you can often spot hundreds of young starfish under the stones.

Camping Boot is near several water sports locations; the Brouwersdam for surfing and kiting, the Grevelingenmeer for diving and sailing and of course the Oosterschelde for diving and fishing.

Putti's Place

Dive site Putti's Place is named after Belgian diver Roger Puttaert who made many archaeological discoveries here. You can dive here up to 50 meters deep. Because it is so deep here, Putti's Place is more for experienced divers. Putti's Place is known for its many cuttlefish. You can also view a small wreck here.

Within 15 minutes you are from the dive site Putti's Place to Camping 't Veerse Meer. You can sleep in one of the cottages, chalets or on the pitches. It is even possible to book a pitch with private sanitary facilities!

Zuidbout

Popular dive site Zuidbout has a very varied underwater life. Here you can find, among other things, the rare Wakame Wier and sea dahlias. You can also encounter sponges, crabs and lobsters. At a depth of 12 meters there is a beautiful overgrown wreck that you can discover.

Camping 't Sluitgat in Ouwerkerk is located near dive site Zuidbout. At the campsite you can relax by the swimming pool or you can take a walk in the countryside around the corner.

OCVA 

Noordbout

Noordbout is the less busy brother of dive site Zuidbout. Here you can dive up to 2 meters deep and admire the different flora and fauna at the bottom. If you would like, you can use Noordbout as a starting point to swim to Zuidbout.

Within 10 minutes you are at Camping De Kreekoever . The campsite is ideal for water sports enthusiasts who like to dive, swim, surf, row or sail. You can go in any direction from this campsite on the island of Schouwen-Duiveland .

Bergse Diepsluis Oesterdam

Bergse Diepsluis Oesterdam is one of the few dive sites in the Oosterschelde without current. So you can always dive there! Partly for this reason, it is often busy and this is seen as a perfect practice location.

Every spring, cuttlefish come here to mate. Good chance to see these beautiful animals! They only do this at a water temperature of 12 ° C. Not only cuttlefish come back every spring, the squids also make use of this breeding ground.

Resort Waterrijk Oesterdam is located in open water in the middle of National Park Oosterschelde , less then a 5-minute drive from the Bergse Diepsluis Oesterdam dive site. This resort offers water villas, most of which have their own dock!
