The Decathlon tent collection

With the May and summer holidays approaching, many campers are looking for a new tent. The type of holiday for which you want to purchase a tent is important. Is the tent itself an important part of your holiday, or should the tent only provide protection while sleeping? To make your choice a little easier, in collaboration with Decathlon Spain, we have created an overview of different tents and whether they are suitable for your camping holiday.

Before you make a purchase, always ask yourself the following 3 questions:

Question 1: how many people is the tent for?

When choosing your tent, always choose a model based on the size of your group and take into account any guests, pets, bicycles, toys and other equipment. In addition, take into account the height of the user(s), their sleeping behavior and the desired extra space.

Question 2: in which season will I use the tent?

Are you going backpacking in Sweden, surfing in France or going to Lake Garda with the family? Every season and every destination has its own seasonal characteristics and therefore also determines the choice of your tent. If you camp on or near the beach, take into account blowing sand or a strong wind. If you are camping near a lake or river, there may be mosquitoes to keep out. When winter camping or on a holiday in the mountains, your tent must be able to withstand heavy rain and/or snow showers.

Question 3: What other requirements must the tent meet?

The material of the tent often determines its weight and volume, which is important for the space in your backpack or trunk of the car. The height of the tent is important if you have multiple sleeping cabins or if you want to change while standing. An awning can be useful if there is little natural shade. Some tents have multiple zip doors, useful if you go with the family. And last but not least the ventilation. Choose a tent with good ventilation. Mesh panels provide a view outside and improved ventilation that also prevents condensation. Choose larger mesh panels in warm, humid climates.

6 tent types for a wonderful outdoor holiday

The family tent

At Decathlon you can choose from 4-8 person family tents with a choice of two, three and even four (bed)rooms. If you take a lot of stuff (bicycles, toys, clothing) with you, take a tent with extra storage space. You can also choose from tents with traditional tent poles and tents with inflatable tent poles. The latter make setting up even faster and easier. Depending on the country or place where you are going camping, you can choose from different types of tent cloth.

The trekking or tunnel camping tent

If you are with a maximum of 4 people and want maximum flexibility and set-up speed, choose a trekking or tunnel camping tent . Quick assembly, lightweight and good ventilation, these are the characteristics of this series of tents. Depending on the season or the place where you are camping, you can choose from different tent canvases, single or double ceilings and the number of storage bags.

The inflatable tent

The inflatable tents from Decathlon's Quechua tents range from 2-person to 8-person family tents. The waterproof, inflatable and very easy to set up tents have an all-in-one structure. Take, for example, the 8-person Quechua Airseconds 8.4 XL F&B with Fresh & Black technology and transparent windows. This inflatable tent is designed for eight campers, has four separate rooms and a spacious 9 m² cabin. Don't forget the hand pump!

The folding tent

Do you need extra space next to your tent, caravan or trailer tent, or just at home in the garden? Then choose a folding tent . A folding tent is perfect for use as a dining room or indoor play area. Complete the purchase with pegs, tensioners and floors so that you can create any desired space. The folding tents are characterized by their compactness. The assembly and disassembly system is very simple and the tents are easy to store and transport.

The 2-second tent

The idea of the Quechua 2-second tent originated in Sallanches near Chamonix. Since the first design in 2005, the range has been expanded to 10 different models. These tents are perfect for a nature outing or a visit to a music festival. The tents are easy to store thanks to the guided folding system.
