The 15 best campsites in Côte d'Azur

The southern French area of Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur Region has it all: the French Riviera's sunny beaches and stylish resorts, the endless lavender fields and stone towns of Provence, stunning marinas, quiet streams with turquoise waters, superb treks, and excellent food.

But what about camping? Camping is a lot of fun, especially on the French Riviera. There are many well-equipped campsites with swimming pools, children’s entertainment, many tourist sites, events, good restaurants nearby, and other interesting things to be discovered. So, do not delay any longer and take a look at these top 15 best campsites on the stunning Cote d'Azur!

1. Camping Les Palmiers – Tikayan

Camping Les Palmiers is a family-friendly campsite that offers well-equipped mobile homes and an 850 m2 aquatic complex with slides and a large, heated swimming pool. The campsite is only 300 metres from the beaches and 6 kilometres from Hyères. The campsite has a sauna, hammam, and solarium, among other amenities. During the weekends, the entertainment team provide a variety of activities such as fitness and aqua fun, boules tournaments, hikes and walks, while children can have fun at the children's club (open during the Easter holidays and in the summer) and on the playground.

If you are in the area, make time to visit the Iles d'Hyeres, which can be reached by boat from Toulon, Hyeres, and Le Lavandou, as well as Cavalaire-sur-Mer and La Croix-Valmer. The shorter crossings take about 15-20 minutes from the Giens peninsula, south of Hyeres. There is a legend about the origins of these islands, as is often the case with special places. So, Îles d'Hyères is not an exception. According to legend, Prince Olbianus had four very beautiful daughters. They were excellent swimmers and often swam a long distance off the coast. A pirate ship arrived one day while they were swimming, and their father summoned them to the shore as soon as possible. The pirate ship, however, was faster and overtook them. The prince begged the gods for assistance and protection for his daughters from pirates. The princesses' bodies began to freeze and later turned stone. The Golden Islands of Porquerolles, Port-Cros, and Levant were formed by the three princesses furthest from the coast. Just before the fourth princess froze, she managed to grab her father's hand. Finally, she arrived at the lovely Giens peninsula. Everyone believes that these princesses are responsible for the beauty of the peninsula and the three islands.
