The best camping destinations in Poland

Camping is booming. Already in the last 2 years of the Covid-19 pandemic, we have seen an increase in the popularity of camping holidays. In 2022, this upward trend will increase and there will be real holiday catching up. In recent years, Poland has also seen an increase in the number of motorhomes whose owners decide to vacation in their own country.

JetCamp has researched over 230 campsites in Poland to find the best camping municipality. The 84,375 reviews helped us reach a few conclusions. We took into account factors such as the average rating of a campsite in a given commune and the popularity of campsites throughout Poland.

The Polish coast is about 1,000 kilometers long and has one of the most spectacular beaches in the world. Blue water, high waves and plenty of sandy beaches will make you fall in love with Poland immediately. You will have a choice of over 60 campsites in this tourist area. Most campsites are dog friendly and the most popular types of accommodation are camping pitches, usually in the shade, and well-furnished single-story houses.

When looking for the best place to camp in Poland, it is good to know in which communes you can find these campsites. To find out about this, we have compiled the top 5 municipalities with the average best-rated campsites in Poland. When determining these municipalities, we also took into account the minimum number of campsites per municipality, which in this case is 5.

To find Poland's camping hotspots, we also researched where the most campsites are located in Poland. It turned out that most of the campsites are located in Władysławowo in the voivodeship Pomeranian (7 campsites). The ranking is closed by Mrągowo with 5 campsites.

What makes the commune popular? (Popularity Index)

In order to determine what makes a given commune popular, a popularity index has been created for this purpose. This index was developed taking into account the number of reviews per commune, a given voivodeship and the whole of Poland.

The number of campsite reviews in a given municipality is divided by the highest number of reviews in one municipality. Then this number is multiplied by 100. The number resulting from this calculation determines the popularity index of a given area.

Mielno is a prime example. All campsites in Mielno (there are 6) have a total of 1,758 reviews. Osiek is the commune with the most reviews - 5341 reviews. Mielno's popularity index is then:

1758/5341 * 100 = 32.91 which is rounded up to 33.

The Popularity Index revealed some interesting details. It is clearly visible that the communes with a high popularity index are located in the Pomorskie and Warmińsko-Mazurskie voivodships with large campsites / holiday parks within their borders.
