Top 10 best amusement parks in UK

If you're planning a camping trip in the UK with your kids, you might be wondering where to go to have the most fun, and this list includes the top ten amusement parks in the country. From live festivals to bizarre rides and colourful children's playgrounds, each theme park in England has its own unique attractions to entice you to visit. We've also got you covered when it comes to finding a nearby campsite.

    1. Alton Towers

Alton Towers, part of the Merlin Entertainments family, first opened as a theme park in 1980, with the Corkscrew, Britain's first double-loop roller coaster.

Alton Towers Resort is a theme park with three hotels, Stargazing Pods, and an Enchanted Village located in the Staffordshire countryside. With 10 themed areas spread over 368 hectares, Alton Towers is the largest theme park in the UK. There are over 40 rides and attractions at the attraction, including 10 record-breaking coasters and 20 family-friendly options.

Alton Towers debuted Gangsta Granny: The Ride, a part of the World of David Walliams, in May 2021. The dark ride incorporates cutting-edge animation and state-of-the-art special effects inspired by Tony Ross's artwork.

The best place to stay is at Alton Towers Waterpark, which also offers glamping rentals.

    2. Legoland Windsor

Legoland Windsor is one of the most popular theme parks in the United Kingdom, with millions of visitors each year. The resort is divided into 12 areas with a total of 55 rides to choose from. In the Legoland driving school, car-crazy kids can even get their first "driving licence." In the Land of the Vikings, you can ride the rapids like our forefathers, or hunt for ancient treasure in the Kingdom of the Pharaohs. Legoland has everything you ever wanted to do as a kid, and more.

A peaceful holiday on a working farm can be had by staying at one of the Camping Hurleyford Farm pitches or one of the rentals. The park's mature trees provide shade and allow visitors to see an abundance of wildlife that is impossible to count.

    3. Flamingo Land

Flamingo Land may not appear on a list of the best theme parks in the UK, but don't be fooled by the name-there's a lot more to the park than just the birds. Lions, tigers, and baboons are among the many wild animals on display, but the number of rides available is equally impressive. There are also extreme experiences for the most adventurous, such as Velocity, which is geared toward younger children rather than teenagers, giving them the chance to experience superbike racing. If you're looking for something a little more sedate, try the Peter Rabbit Adventure — you might even see Peter and Lily!

Book a stay at Camping Wayside, a 5-star campsite located in the breathtaking North Yorkshire Moors National Park, to visit this amusement park.

    4. Blackpool Pleasure Beach

Blackpool Pleasure Beach really does have something for everyone. It is without a doubt one of the best and most well-known amusement parks in England. Over six million people visit each year to enjoy over 125 rides, attractions, and shows.

Nickelodeon Land, the Blackpool theme park's speciality and pride, allows kids to interact with their favourite Nickelodeon TV characters. At the Blackpool Pleasure Beach, adorable dogs from PAW Patrol, SpongeBob SquarePants, and other friendly life-sized characters await your family's arrival.

Stay at Marton Mere Holiday Village - Haven, which offers stunning natural surroundings as well as traditional coastal family fun. Swimming pools, entertainment, and a variety of activities are available at this campsite.

    5. Chessington World of Adventures

Chessington World of Adventures is the UK's ultimate family theme park and a fantastic day trip from London. Chessington is not only a theme park but also a zoo (with over 1000 animals!) and a sea life centre (one of England's best aquariums), as well as a Go Ape high ropes course.

There are over 40 rides in ten different lands, all of which are a little more kid-friendly.

Edgeley Country Park - Haulfryn, with an indoor pool, sauna, and sports and fitness facilities, is a great place to stay.

    6. Drayton Manor Park

Drayton Manor is more than just a theme park; it also includes a zoo with over 100 animals, a dinosaur park, and a crazy golf course, in addition to world-class rides. It also houses Thomas Land, which features 25 rides and attractions themed after the beloved tank engine. Parents of train-obsessed children frequently come just for that last one.

You can book a stay at the nearby Bosworth Water Trust Leisure Park. Motorhome pitches are available at the campsite, or you can book a room at a luxurious lakeside lodge. The property has a lake and offers various watersports courses and lessons.

    7. Thorpe Park

Thorpe Park earns its place among the UK's best theme parks with white-knuckle rides, roller coasters based on horror films and TV shows, and massive water chutes. It has some of Europe's tallest, fastest, and scariest rides, making it an adrenaline junkie's dream come true. The Stealth accelerates from 0 to 130km/h in 1.9 seconds, while Saw-The Ride's 100 degrees (beyond vertical) drop will have you riding till the park shuts.

It is suggested that you visit London once you have had your adrenaline fix. Choose Chessington Explorer Glamping for a convenient stay at both places, which is an excellent choice for your family's vacation.

    8. Oakwood Theme Park

Oakwood is Wales' largest theme park, with some of the world's fastest and most extreme stomach-churning rides, including Megafobia, which has been voted the best wooden roller-coaster ride several times and has fans all over the world!

Hungerford Farm Touring Caravan Park is the closest accommodation. It is a dog-friendly campsite with motorhome and caravan pitches. Several more adventure parks and entertainment options can be found in the area. The caravan park is close to Tenby, Saundersfoot, and Narberth, but we also have easy access to St Davids, Fishguard, and Newport in the county's north.

    9. Paulton’s Park (Peppa Pig World)

Paulton's Park, in Hampshire's New Forest, has over 70 rides and attractions geared specifically for children. It's also known as "Peppa Pig World." Anyone who enjoys dinosaurs, as well as Peppa Pig fans, will have a good time here. Enter the Lost Kingdom for almost two hectares of Jurassic scenery, including two family rollercoasters, an adventure play park, and a Jeep exhibition.

The Camping Ashurst Campsite is nestled in the Ashurst woods, with plenty of walking paths to admire the local flora and fauna. It's also only a few minutes from Ashurst's quaint little village, which has shops, pubs, and restaurants.

    10. M&D’s

M&D's is Scotland's favourite theme park. This attraction, located in the beautiful Strathclyde Country Park, is perfect whatever the weather – if it's not so nice outside, you can enjoy the great soft play and Scotland's only indoor Tropical Rainforest.

Strathclyde Country Park Camping is close to Glasgow and is located at the same location. It is an ideal campsite for entire families with dogs. The park, set around Strathclyde Loch and rich in mature woodlands, wetlands, wildlife refuges, and neat open parkland, is just a few minutes' walk away and offers unique bird and nature watching, kilometres of walking and cycling routes, as well as a variety of watersports and golf.
