Camping Unesco Netherlands

Holidaying in the Netherlands? Are you going camping and are you looking for a unique place or experience? Then choose a campsite in or near a Unesco world heritage monument. The cultural and natural Unesco heritage sites are located in the most beautiful places in the Netherlands and sometimes you can actually camp in them. We have listed 6 for you.

MUIDEN - Pampus & the Defense Line of Amsterdam

Pampus & the Defense Line of Amsterdam (North Holland / Utrecht)

Sleeping in a Unesco monument? The fortified island of Pampus was brought to life in the last century. In multimedia performances and special games you can hear the old machines rattle, the cannon shots roar and you feel like a soldier of the Netherlands. You can also sleep this summer. Pampus Camp Nights rents beautiful recycled tents from jeans.

SCHOKLAND - Schokland

Staycation Noordoostpolder! A former island in the Noordoostpolder. That is Schokland! Since 1942, the Unesco World Heritage monument has been part of the province of Flevoland. A great archaeological collection (Schokland museum) wealth awaits you on a visit. Of course, that also includes a coffee and a piece of local 'schokkerbrok'. Museum Schokland organizes exhibitions and coastal walks and if you want to camp, book a beautiful lodge at Camping de Voorst or a hip tent at pop-up Camping Kallumaan. Both in Kraggenburg at about 14min by car.

WADDEN SEA - Terschelling

The Wadden Sea, which stretches along the coasts of Germany, Denmark and the Netherlands, is the largest tidal system in the world. In the Netherlands, the sea is part of the provinces of Friesland, Groningen and North Holland, and the islands are a top destination for a family holiday or weekend trip. Because of the worldwide unique combination of geological and ecological properties, the Wadden Sea is on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Seals, beautiful changing landscape, bird breeding grounds, camping in such a biodiversity is truly unique. At Camping de Duinkant you have the Unesco World Heritage nature reserve De Boschplaat almost in your backyard. You can enjoy walking, cycling and trips with the covered wagon and sleep well in the evening in, for example, a De Waard tent that is set up on the campsite.

KINDERDIJK - Kinderdijk Windmills

Kinderdijk has been an official UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997. A unique list including the Colosseum in Rome and the Acropolis in Athens. The Kinderdijk is about water management and how the Dutch have dominated the water for centuries. The ingenious complex of 19 mills, dikes, pumping stations and pumping stations has kept the area dry for centuries. Book a guide and a boat and let yourself be told about the world of water management. If you want to camp nearby, take a look at Camping Parc De Ijsselhoeve (Topparken) in Nieuwerkerk a / d IJssel. Cycle about 45 minutes through Groot Hitland and the Krimpenerhout (and 2x a ferry) and you are there!

The former Van Nelle factory was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2014. The industrial monument on the Delfshavense Schie in Rotterdam is one of the most important industrial monuments in the Netherlands. Once designed by Brinkman & van der Vlugt (1927-1930) and long a tobacco factory, the building was renovated in 2000 and furnished as a business complex in the field of media and design. It is also a unique location for meetings, events and congresses. From the factory to the Culture Campsite Rotterdam is a 10-minute bike ride or half an hour's walk.
