Camping Riva di Ugento is a camping resort designed to respect nature and its local surroundings in which all buildings (like the restaurant, bar, pizzeria, supermarket and the new beauty and wellness centre) are built with tuff in traditional Puglian style. The large park-like grounds are lined with many different flowers and trees and is separated from the beach by a strip of dunes. Four beach exits lead to a 1km long sandy beach that gently slopes into the crystal clear waters of the Ionian Sea.
Picturesque sand dunes, sunsets on the horizon, rich dune vegetation, sparkling crystal clear waters, this is the Salento at its best. The beach is very suitable for families with children and if you like a healthy walk along the shore, this is the place. The largest part of the beach is free to use and a part equipped with umbrellas and sunbeds (Exits 1 and 4). Rent a canoe, surfboard or rubber dinghy or book a spot on one of the banana boat or inflatable raft trips (Exit 4). The camping has a swimming pool and a paddling pool with a playground (extra charge). Other sports facilities and services include two tennis courts, a paddle court, a five-a-side football pitch, a volleyball court, two beach-volleyball courts, four table tennis tables, open-air equipment yoga and meditation sessions, and bike hire. The beauty centre offers a range of services including massages and haircuts. The entertainment programming information is displayed on special bulletin boards and includes activities for all ages. Entertainment for kids includes games, competitions, costume parties, (soundproof) disco and performances. For kitesurf, windsurf, catamaran, wakeboard and SUP (Stand Up Paddle) lessons or rentals head to LocalsCrew a 1km walk south along the beach.
The campsite offers 3 types of caravans, 2 types of tents as well as 1000 spacious and shady pitches for tents, campers, folding trolleys and caravans.
Local specialities like Friselle with tomato and basil or fresh tuna with pistachio crust are served at the Rivadamare Beach Bar & Restaurant. The restaurant is located near exit 1 and enjoys breathtaking views. The central restaurant and pizzeria offer a range of Salento dishes, meat and fish specials and any pizza you like. During lunchtime, a take-away service is provided. The Café offers delicious breakfasts, great snacks, a diner aperitif of tasty ice cream. The bar has a big TV screen (Sat TV) to make sure that important sports events are not missed. The on-site supermarket has everything from fresh fruit and vegetables to flip-flops and newspapers.
The Salento region is known for its natural beauty including its rugged coastlines, pretty dune areas and beautiful sandy beaches but also for its culture, food and history. The nearby 1,600 hectares Ugento Regional Nature Park is known for its natural, historic and scenic value. Nearby Ugento is a quaint historic town with a beautifully restored 17th-century castle. Ready for some wine-tasting? The Donna Palma vineyard in Racale has a great range of red (Primitivo) and white (Moscato) wines. Other nearby attractions and activities include Grotta Zinzulusa (superb stalactites and stalagmites), the caves in Santa Maria di Leuca, the thermal centre in Santa Cesarea Terme, Go-karting Pista Salentina, the Splash waterpark. Don’t miss the pretty whitewashed town of Gallipoli for some great shopping, dinner and/or partying.
